Wound Dressing

Among the commercially available wound dressings, hydrocolloid type products such as scar removal patch, hydrocolloid dressing, and acne dressing, all contain hot melt adhesives. In order to effectively absorb the tissue fluid exuded by the wound, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is added into hydrocolloid products. CMC is able to keep the wound moist after absorbing tissue fluid, and accelerates the formation of cells and wound recovery. During these hydrocolloid dressing production process, mixed CMC and pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive are coated on a PET release films, and then transferred to a PU films. The bonded semi-finished products are shaped, die-cut, and package to become a marketable product.

Original Problem

The special adhesive used in these dressings contain additives, like increase the viscosity, and is easily chars and precipitates. These additives usually blocks the equipment flow passage, resulted in frequent shut down for equipment cleaning and maintenance, and defected products.
